What’s the diff between coaching and therapy?
In coaching school they told us that we’d be asked this question, and then said we can say something like “imagine that you’re driving a car. Therapy would be looking in the rearview mirror, looking back, to see the ground you’ve already covered and how you got here. Coaching would be sitting in the drivers seat, with your coach right next to you in the passenger seat, looking at the road ahead.” Fine. Good. Yeah. I look at it like this, and you can quote me, “when you get done with a coaching session, you feel amazing, like you are superwoman and can take on the world, and when you get done with a therapy session, you feel like shit.” (Disclaimer…I know, I know. Therapy is amazing and completely necessary sometimes. It’s just a different animal)
Do you only do business coaching?
Nope. I do coaching for all the areas of your life (whether you like it or not). A lot of people come to me because they’re entrepreneurs and have amazing business ideas, but if you’re JUST looking for business coaching, this isn’t the place for you. Life is full of…well LIFE. And that includes more than business. Undoubtedly, through working together, we’ll hit the other areas of life (relationships, family, spirituality, etc), and if we didn’t, I’d view that as a failure. We go deep. I believe that that if your love life is out of whack, it’s going to affect your business. If your spiritual life is sucking, it’s going to affect your love life, etc. I handle the WHOLE YOU baby boo. Your business will get rockin, and so will all the other areas of your life.
Do I need to be in California in order to work with you?
Nope! YAY! Although there is the option to work face to face if we are in the same town (sorta), I do most of my coaching over the phone, which rules, because then no one has to worry about travel time/costs etc. I have clients all over the world.
How can you help me with my life if you can’t even see me? Isn’t it weird to not see someone you’re working with?
I think intuition is an energy thing. Not a presence thing. So, if you’re feeling a certain way on the other end of the phone, energetically, I can feel it too. I honestly don’t know how to describe it but it’s crazy how much I can hear, see, and feel over the phone. Often, I will know exactly what you’re thinking. Also, your voice tells me SO much. When it gets loud or quiet, when it gets small, when it gets excited. And I listen for that. AND, even though I can’t see your face, I can feel it. I know it’s sounds really weird! But if you’re scrunching your face all up, I can tell. And I’ll ask you about it. And then you’ll get totally weirded out. And breakthroughs happen.
What would our first call be like?
Ok it’ll go like this. If you like what you see here, you’ll email me and we set up a free 45 minute sample coaching session (no obligation of course…and I mean that). I’ll send you a few questions to answer that’ll help me better understand where you’re at and I’ll also send you a description of what our first sample call will be like, which includes:
- A few minutes of “hello!” get to know you type stuff/any questions you might have
- Then a good chunk of time of either me coaching you on a topic you’ve already thought about and wanted coaching on (ie. “I have a million amazing ideas in my head, but I can’t seem to take action on any of them”), OR if you’re not sure, I will use the answers to the questions I sent as a guide to ask you more questions
- Homework! And yes. There will be homework, but don’t worry because it’s FUN FUN FUN and exactly what you need in that moment.
- Logistics. We then talk about whether or not we want to work together, what that means, price, etc.
How long does a coaching relationship last?
There’s no set amount of time that a coaching relationship must go on, but I suggest giving yourself at least three months. Some clients stay for years, some stay only for the duration of a project. It’s really up to you and your needs.
How long is a coaching call?
There’s also no standard on this one. I find that 45 minute calls work best, but I do lots of clients in 30 minutes or an hour or more. Again, it really depends on your needs. Coaching is really tailor made just for you, so whatever you need and want, we’ll do.
What results can I expect to have from coaching?
It’s like everything in life…what you put in is what you get out. If you come to the coaching relationship as a completely honest and open book, are ready to get moving and make changes in your life, actively participate and do your homework, are open to getting your world rocked, then miracles can happen and you can potentially have everything in life that you want. Really. But if you don’t do the work, don’t take it seriously, slack off, make excuses, or have a bad attitude, then your life will look very similar to how it looks now.
So….uh…you were in a band? Where can I hear your music?
Yes!! I have been in three bands. An all girl rock band from Santa Barbara called Titsofrenix (I know…the name is ridiculous). And then my two last bands from LA, Poets & Pornstars and Run Devil Run (which is basically Poets & Pornstars with a different singer). I’m going to post some music on the site soon, but for now, you can find Poets & Pornstars on myspace.com/poetspornstars and Run Devil Run at myspace.com/rundevilrunmusic and both on Itunes. I’m not in those bands anymore but the music on the sites are still me rockin the bass.
