{TGIF} Try Gratitude…It’s Friday!
Right now I’m sitting on the porch of a cabin my family rents every year in the Sierra’s. It’s quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and relaxing. And boy did I need it after my last few weeks. And as I was getting all ready to post this post, my internet stopped working. And I became frustrated. And angry. And like “GREAT! OF COURSE! When I’m trying to post my freaking gratitude post, THIS happens. UGH!!!!” So I had to find a different option. Another computer, and here I am. No pictures at this time since my iphone won’t synch with this other person’s computer, but if you wanna see what I’ve been up to this week, check out my FB page where all my pics are posted. http://facebook.com/xosallyhope.
Gratitude…here we come!
It’s so easy to be in our heads and think about how much things ARE NOT going the way we want, or focusing on things we DON’T have. So…I’ve decided, that at least once a week, on Fridays, we should all take a minute to focus on things that ARE going well. Things we’re grateful for. I’ll be putting together a list of things that I love. That I’m grateful for. Or happy about. All from this week. I’ll go, then YOU go. Leave a comment on the blog with some of the things you’re grateful for RIGHT NOW.
When al ele fails…and especially when you don’t want to…Try gratitude.
Here goes…
I’m grateful for:
Gentle nudges in directions I should go but don’t feel like it. Bernardo Mendez. Inspiring people. The lake. The smell of the forest. Time off to think. Driving. Campfires and s’mores. Boat rides. Working outside. My loving and supportive family and friends. Teachers that show up in my life to help me grow. An expanding heart even when I’m upset, angry, and scared. Cowboy hats. Intellectually stimulating conversations. Serendipity. Notes of encouragement. Fresh picked flowers. Laughter. Friendship bracelets. Creativity. My Coach. Beauty, everywhere. My clients. Growth. Realizations. YOU.
I am leaving the internet for the rest of the day. Notice where I am. And really BE here. Have a great day.
Ok…now YOU go!

I’m grateful for the awesome slow holiday I’m going starting next week Friday. I’m cutting all strings and travelling down the south coast of Natal to Coffee Bay in the Transkei for 17 days with only a small bag of clothes, no cellphone, no technology. Just me and the road and the wonderful beach!
WOOOOO HOOOOOOO! Travel!!!!! Have a wonderful time and let us know how it went.
If you have to be without internet, a cabin in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is the place!
This week I’m truly grateful for the hard work I’ve done over the years that has contributed to my INSIGHT and SELF ESTEEM! Both came into play recently and I came out smelling like a rose!
Also for good friends that jump at a moment’s notice and make your life bigger, better and more exciting.
Whew! What a week! :)
Oh my goodness girl. I love your list, especially because it speaks to work you’ve done…for yourself, and how that has helped you grow as a person. I feel like every single gratitude list could include that. For me anyway. It’s such a gift, to grow. I’m so grateful to know YOU!
Gratitude, gratitude, love me some gratitude!
Here’s my list today:
Sunshine. Open, empty parks. The bay. Quiet. Opening my blinds (home in RI) and seeing nothing else but green. Opening my blinds (back in NYC) and seeing a city so alive with so many people I can’t wait to meet. My little cousins’ laughter and enthusiasm, and for whatever reason why they love me so much. Driving in my car. Iced coffee. Friendly people. The summer. Writing. That I can publish a book, with the freedom to say whatever I want, with just a few clicks. That this silly tool called the Internet has connected me to beautiful and wonderful friends, teachers, and poets like YOU, Sallyhope.
D
What a lovely list. I’m grateful for you. And for your list. Which makes me grateful for all those things too.
