We May Shatter. But Love Is Worth It.
I had written a big long thing this morning. But the more I read it, the more I realized it wasn’t necessary. This song below has been repeat for me for a couple weeks now. And it says it all perfectly.
In my opinion, love is the most important thing in the world.
Yes, we are fragile. We have cracks and smudges. We are shaped by the people we allow in our lives. We can break, easily and fast. And we can be seen, if we really let someone see us. And we may shatter, but the risk is worth it. Love is worth it.
One of my favorite researchers is Brene Brown, who speaks to the power of vulnerability. And she says “To be vulnerable, we have to love with our whole hearts, knowing there is no guarantee, but believing that we are enough.” And in these moments, I couldn’t agree more. There ARE no guarantees in love. We never know if it’ll last, if it’ll live up to our expectations, if it’ll be what we want. We never know how things are going to turn out. Who are partners are going to grow into being. All we can do is love, wholly, and fully. Be honest with ourselves and our partners. And then dive in. It could be a disaster, or it could be the best thing ever. The only thing we know for sure is that we will be a different person because of it.
So here’s to love. In whatever forms you have it in your life right now. In whatever ways you radiate it on a daily basis. In whatever ways you’re hurting or longing. We are in a constant state of love, whether we know it or not.
And it’s all part of the bigger picture of our lives. You are loved, and you are enough.
Xo,
Sally

I’ll drink to that! Been a loooooooooong time since I been loved, and she showed me that it not only is possible FOR someone to love me, but that I am capable of love, as well.
My lady had told me that she felt I had given up on love before I met her, and I told her that was true. I’m glad she persisted.
WHAT A GIFT!!! To both give and to receive, especially when you had given up hope. So lovely.
Here’s to love! Totally agree. I’ve gotten way more hurt because of diving in fully, but I feel I’ve also experienced fuller truer joy, and that makes it totally worth it.
That’s right lady. It’s the full spectrum of emotions. The lows might be lower, but the highs are higher. And consciousness is expanded. Which is ALWAYS good in my book. Thank you so much for sharing.
*clink* Cheers! *broad smile*
I concur…raise the glasses…hurts like hell…brings joy unimagined…costs everything…vale la pena
CLINK!
Yes! And what matters, I believe, is to choose to love no matter what.
On that note, I believe loving yourself is important as well. It’s a practice of being loved as well. The more you love yourself, the more you are loved.
Love is worth it!
YES! I couldn’t agree more. I put “loving yourself” in the LOVE category. It’s crucial. I think it’s the key to life. Loving yourself, loving others, and learning what it means to BE love. Thank you so much for sharing! Now get your buns on my list. :)
Miss Sally,
I love this song, I love this post, I love you!
I love that you agreed we are fragile, but the heart is pretty dang durable. There were heartaches that I thought I would never get over, but I learned the most from them. Christopher Robin says, “”Always remember you are braver than you believe, you are stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” I tell my heart that all the time. <3
Oh Dailey…you know I love you girl. Always and fo-eva. It’s so true…we can be fragile but we are also so resilient. We always grow the most from those heartaches we’re sure we’ll never get over. I love that quote. Thank you so much for sharing and for being your amazing self. So much love to you lil lady.
