{TGIF} Try Gratitude…It’s Friday!
It’s so easy to be in our heads and think about how much things ARE NOT going the way we want, or focusing on things we DON’T have. So…I’ve decided, that at least once a week, on Fridays, we should all take a minute to focus on things that ARE going well. Things we’re grateful for. I’ll be putting together a list of things that I love. That I’m grateful for. Or happy about. All from this week. I’ll go, then YOU go. Leave a comment on the blog with some of the things you’re grateful for RIGHT NOW.
When al ele fails…and especially when you don’t want to…Try gratitude.
Here goes…
I’m grateful for:
Country dancing. My cousin. My awesome dog who makes me laugh constantly. Beautiful hikes. Health. Rose smelling roses. Partnership. Communication. Opportunities that come from nowhere. Manifesting. The color red. Technology. My parents. Old friends. Being surprised. Bravery. Gchat coaching sessions (thanks Natalie!). Long walks. Short walks. Shorts. Future plans. Coaching. Waking up, every morning.
Ok…now YOU go!
Here are some pics and a video from my week. Hope you had a great one. Don’t forget to leave a comment with some things YOU are grateful for.
Now you tell me what YOU’RE grateful for. Make sure you leave a comment below and if you’re not already on my mailing list…GIT IN THERE so I can tell you when new stuff happens!! Click here.
After years of fighting, finally being able to move into the condo this weekend.
There’s still more fighting on the horizon, but as the current reigning InterContinental Champion, that means I’m the number one contender to the World Heavyweight Championship, and as much as I-C gold weighs, the World Championship gold weighs just a little more, and I’m determined to come out of all of this with my World Championship sitting around my waist.
OF COURSE YOU WILL!!!!!! :)
I am grateful for: my husband, my amazing daughter, my whole damn family, my amazing friends, Marie Forleos Adventure Mastermind group, sunshine, swimming, dancing my ass off, cute clothes – hello Anthropologie, love, manifesting the life I have always wanted, and so so much more.
Hey Briana! What an AWESOME list. Everything you wrote, I was all like…”yeah…YEAH! YEAHHHHHHHHH!” It got me all excited and pumped up. Thank you so much for sharing all that.
I’m grateful for:
You and your post! :)
B-School
My family
Dancing (love your video)
Delicious healthy food
The songs playing on the radio
I could go on…..
Fatma XO
Hey Fatma…thank you so much! I’m grateful for you too. Being here and reading and sharing. And seriously, grateful for everything you wrote too. I love seeing other people’s lists because it has me adding to mine. Have an absolutely beautiful day!
Gary, the girls and all of the family, my home, my grand dog, the miracles of Croatia and the people I love there, my funny silly mom, my aunt Bernice and her enthusiasm for life, graduations and new beginnings, health, automatic transmissions (long story), hot brownies with hot chocolate and vanilla ice cream, walks in the morning, good books, beautiful music, the gifts my mother gave me (music, laughter, silliness, security, education, dance, character and values, responsibility,an open mind, lifetime membership in the democratic party, and a sense of humor). Good friends. Cuddling on the couch with Gary.
I LOVE YOU MOM!!!! I feel like I want to take your gratitude list and add it to mine. So beautiful.
Right now, I’m grateful for being able to travel and see the world, being able to stay with one of my best friends, deep existential conversations, connecting with people through B-school, sunshine and inspiration.
Most of all, I am grateful for finding my purpose and for being able to help others. I’m grateful for feeling that I make an impact and for finally having a sense of meaning in my life.
Oh my gosh Marthe…your last sentence gave me body chills. It feels like you’re returning home. To yourself. So beautiful. And I’m so glad we’re connected. Please stop by often and say hello.
I am grateful for you, in all of your beauty and love and willingness. I am grateful for our partnership and the space it allows for us to be vulnerable, explore, learn, create, grown, risk and love. I am grateful for my awesome job at Google which has allowed me to truly step in to my power and connect me to purpose in such a deep way. I am grateful for all of the sweet, awesome, giving men in the world that are busting up my belief about there being “no good guys” out there. I am grateful for my “family” – people I have adopted throughout my life who have taught me what unconditional love is. Finally, I am thankful that I am still alive … to be able to know love, to give and receive love and to have FUN!!!
Love you Sally and thank YOU for creating THIS space for gratitude.
XO,

Ije! What a beautiful list!! And it sounds like you’ve been creating creating creating and moving moving moving. So wonderful. And it also sounds like you’ve surrounded yourself with lind-minded people who are here to support you on your journey and on your way. So amazing. Also…welcome to the sunny west coast! I used to live right near Lake Merritt and will be up there this month. Perhaps a bay area b-school meetup should happen! :) Thank you for reading and thank you for writing. I look forward to getting to know you better.
Love,
Sally
Well, well, well… as you know, I’m having a good week so I’m feeling especially grateful. Mostly for the following:
Random funny texts with my mom, watching awful movies with my husband, long talks on the phone catching up with my bf across the country, my nieces and nephews who always make me laugh, steamed crabs, almond tequila, swimming, letting go of parts of your past, “jumping out of airplanes”, finally booking my flight to Portland for WDS, writing, rainy days (finally!), home cooked meals, Toastmasters meetings, stumbling across blogs or books where the person seems to writing directly to you, mountain climbers and burpees at the gym, connecting with people you know but never really gotten to KNOW, live music, whoa… I can’t stop. But I will. I am especially grateful at this very moment for having the courage to make myself and my happiness a priority and for investing in my heart, soul, and mind. Yea!
Yep! YEAH!! YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Exactly to all of it. I especially love the last sentence. You’re absolutely right. When you commit to yourself, amazing things happen. LOVE.
So grateful for the awesome new community of women I’ve been ushered into over the past few weeks! Finding your tribe of people who support you for being yourself is life-changing <3
Gosh…isn’t it just the most amazing thing?! That’s why I formed the FB group a few years ago. Because I had never met so many amazing and like-minded people. So happy to be in the tribe with you!
I’m grateful for my kids, my hubby, my dog Libby, sunshine, gardens, summer vacation, flip flops, float trips.
Ooooooh yum!! That’s like a summertime gratitude list if I’ve ever seen one!! Flip flops…YAY! I’m grateful for you…my dear. :)
I am grateful it’s Friday, for my amazing husband, my cuddly great dane stella. For fresh green juice, for my business partner coming home on Sunday, for B-School energy, for colored markers and sticky tabs keeping me organized and for the pear & Chamagne martini I will in enjoy with some old friends on Saturday.
Great Dane owners UNITE!!!! WOOO HOOOO! Maybe we should start another B-School FB group where we share ridiculous pictures of our danes (cuz I KNOW you have as many as me). :)
An 4-day weekend during which I get to spend quality time with my gorgeous boy. A great route right by our house where we can walk our dog and catch up on each other’s day. Having the courage to quit my job (I did it this week – woohoo!). The awesome, astounding, unbeatable connections that B-School has already brought me! The fluttering feeling I get in the pit of my stomach when I realise that my life is about to change, big time. The mental pinch I have to give myself when I can hardly believe that this is actually happening. And a snoring dog laying by my feet :)
*A 4-day weekend :) (So excitedly grateful that I forgot to go back and edit <3 )
Ahhhh congratulations!!!!! And reading your gratitude list gave ME that fluttering feeling too. I believe this is a big time for you lady! Full of wonderment and surprises. So glad to be able to share in this time with you. And thanks so much for reading and sharing. Have an awesome weekend.
I’m extending gratitude into Saturday ;-) Hmmm there is so much to be grateful for when I’m in the moment. I’m grateful for those moments when I’m grounded and I feel connected to everything and everyone. It’s sort of like this feeling like the universe is this grande place and I’m a part of it with everyone else. Wow I love that because I feel grateful for everything in life! Thanks Sally, such a great post.
Thank you for the extension. :) And your comment. I absolutely love that feeling you’re talking about…the one of connectedness. That we’re all here talking, for a reason. Your gratitude list has gotten me pumped up for my Saturday. THANK YOU!!
Great idea Sally. Here it goes!
I’m grateful for:
My head of curly locks
My mother’s constant optimism
Dried prunes and peanut butter (just try it!)
Radical listeners
Singing in the car
Painted nails
A clean kitchen
Unfettered honesty
Dancing with abandon
Thanks again!
Whoa!!! Dried prunes and peanut butter! I can honestly say I’ve never heard of that before. And I’m always up for trying new things, soooo…..OK! :) Thanks for sharing your gratitude. It fills my heart.
Great vid Sally. Love ya!
