Should You Follow Your Passions?
A lot of us are in the “follow your passions” generation. We were told growing up that we could do or be anything we want to.
But recently there has been a lot of backlash on this idea. The point being that following your passions doesn’t set you up for success, financial stability, and a stable life.
I’m a life coach (and leader of the super fun, private community Wildheart Revolution), which you might guess means that I think everyone should follow their passions, but actually…I don’t believe that to be true 100%.
I think it works for some people, and doesn’t work for others.
Want to find out which category you fit into? And what to do about it? This video is for you.
Have you ever been told to follow your passions? Or NOT follow your passions? What did you do? How did you handle it?
As always, I love to hear your feedback in the comments below. Tell us…are you currently following your passions or have you gone a different route>
Til next time,
Sally
P.s. The WILDHEART REVOLUTION is blowing up. Want to be among the original (peaceful) rebels carpe-ing the HELL outta their diems? Get in there now!
If it is truly your passion, nothing in the world will ever stop you from doing it, no matter what happens.
Be the biggest prick you can, and for every person that says “no”, have it be a “rigged vote”, and each “no”, should equal about 10 “yes”.
It isn’t THEIR passion, it’s YOURS. If you are looking for someone to tell you “no”, then by all means, feel free to continue to look for people that will tell you how foolish and stupid you are. If not, then do what YOU want, and f*** everyone else
This was such a great wake-up today. I am constantly getting pressure from the people in my life to settle down and find something “dependable” but the thing is, this is not the type of life I value. This is not what I want out of life or out of my career. I don’t look down on my friends who have a stable job or who prefer that way of living, I respect that they are doing what they need to do for themselves. Just like I want to. I have talks with my sister about this all the time. Her and I are working a number of jobs that make us happy and are advancing us in areas we’d like to build on, but they are not always reliable and you never know what may come up. But they are what we want and what we need, so for us, it’s worth it.
Thank you for this video, Sally.
I believe in following passion.
You are right. It is important to understand if what you like doing is something you want to be doing pretty much 24/7 (at least it could be the case in the beginning. Or maybe even for the first couple if years)
Or you just want to enjoy doing this in small quantities. As a hobby.
We don’t have to make money out of everything we like or passionate about doing.
Hey Sally,
I love your video! It’s the first time I come to your site. What is the song at the start and end of the video? It sounded great. :)
I’m a strong believer in passion. But to answer the question: Should you follow your passion?
My take is you can follow your passion, but don’t follow your passion blindly. Even if you do love or enjoy doing something, doesn’t mean you have to make a career or business out of it. It can be a hobby. Monetizing your passion requires more planning and business strategy etc.
I like how you say it depends on the value of the person. Because for me, I value the creating process and do thing I love much more than financial stability. I quitted my accounting job Apr this year to pursue my animation studies full time. I know that I would get a pay cut for changing industry but it’s worth it. If I were to work 1/3 of my life, I want to spend the time doing something I passionate for.
Passion is the way to go!

Nerdy Creator!! I love it and thank you so much for writing and chiming in. I totally get where you’re coming from and for people like you…TOTALLY! It’s worth it. I just think for some people, they might not feel the same way.
But I’m with you. Totally on the passion side. :)
As for the song…it’s actually from my old band! Poets and Pornstars. The song is called “Get Your Kicks.” I hope you enjoy it!
XOXO
Hey Sally,
You’re in a band? Cool! It’s there any place I can hear the full song.
I love music! :)
