New Years Resolution Blues

The New Year tends to bring all kinds of excitement and new energy. I see people working on their goals, and their visions and their projection for the new year. People are sharing the specifics and getting excited. They’re working hard and ready to take this year by storm.

Except me. It feels like I’m the only person on earth who isn’t all gung ho about the new year. And being a life coach, I feel like I should know better. But to be honest, i’m not totally sure what my goals are for this year. I’m not exactly sure what my “theme word of 2013” is or what kind of butt I want to kick this year. I have an idea. I have some things in the docket, but nothing that’s like “THAT’S IT!”  And all the hype around the new year just makes me feel worse.

HOWEVER, I’m not going down without a fight. While I do believe that it’s absolutely ok to be feeling how I feel and to not really know, I definitely wanted to do something to shift my energy around it since I was kinda just sitting here being all like mad that everyone is so excited. So I decided to create a vision board. Or rather, a poster board with a bunch of pictures and images and textures and colors that make me feel inspired and happy. It took me an entire day to do it, and I hung it at the foot of my bed. Last night when I went to bed, I took a deep breath, and I smiled.

Do you ever feel the same? Like everyone around you knows exactly what they want and you’re just being left behind in the dust? What do you do when you feel that way? Do share in the comments below.

Sally
