Your Dreams Matter. Here’s How To Reach Them.
I remember the moment like it was yesterday. I was in New York, on a trip to go see about a boy. It was my first time alone in New York, since my best friend didn’t live there anymore. I knew a few people there, but navigating the subway system alone was a huge feat for me.
Around this same time, I had been tossing around the idea to move to Costa Rica for a month or two with a girlfriend of mine.
Now…this might not sound all that exciting right now. Especially if you’ve known me for awhile and seen me adventure around a bit. But at this time in my life, I wasn’t very adventurous. At all. I hadn’t traveled much. I hadn’t done anything too out of the norm (I mean…other than be in a touring rock n roll band, but that’s normal, right?)
And for some reason, at this time, this decision felt HUGE. And scary. And like “I can’t do it it’s too scary” and “where will we live how will we get around i don’t speak spanish omg i can’t go.”
But yet, there was something exciting inside of me saying “just go for it.”
I can’t really explain it. It’s that feeling you get when you feel like something is just right even if it doesn’t really make a ton of sense, or if it feels really scary.
Amongst the anxious or scary feelings, it also just feels solid in your gut and in your chest.
This is how the conversation went down:
Me: “Natalie…are we really going to do this? Are we crazy?”
Natalie: “Why the F not? Let’s do it.”
And so we booked our flights for Costa Rica. We had no idea where we were going to stay, we just knew we were going.
That trip changed my life. It’s where my own Wild Heart began beating faster. It’s where I discovered my freedom.
And when I think back to that moment, the one where we said “screw it let’s do it” I think about all things in life that are scary. And what it takes to push through that fear to the other side in service of the bigger picture.
And the answer is COURAGE.
Dreams are scary. I haven’t met a person who had a big dream and a big vision that wasn’t also terrified of it. We are all united in that way. Oprah has the same types of fears you do. So do celebrities and politicians and people who you see doing amazing things.
The closer you are to what you’re meant to be doing, the more scary it becomes. (tweet this) That’s normal.
So the way through it…the way to that calm grounded place, is to just say yes. To tell people about it. And to take consistent action.
Here’s a little love note for you and a bit of a Wildheart Challenge. I hope you take this on.
Let’s all make 2015 the year that our wild(heart)est dreams come true.
I told you my dream. Now it’s time to tell me yours. Because…I show you mine you show me yours. Leave your dreams for your life this year in the comments below.
LET’S ROCK,
Sally
P.s. Exciting Wildhearted announcement coming in the next few weeks. Keep an eye out.
Hey Sally, I am wanting to create a fabulous online training for savvy passionate and inspired biz women. Crazy huh! Lets do this thing! x Carol
Hey Carol…YES!!!!!!! I love it so much!! From your mouth to the Universe’s ears. What’s the first step??
Dream… singular?
… To be a fully expressed being! This includes wildly realized creative projects such as seeing my first feature film to completion and worldwide success, my children’s anthology (MACARONIANDCHEESEANTHOLOGY) continued into subsequent volumes/formats and placed in schools/families’ hands all over the world and deep partnership and connection in my personal life.
Love.
WOW. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! “To be a fully expressed being.” Love it. What do you imagine would look different in your life if you were a fully expressed being??
Also…you can totally do it for multiple dreams. :)
My dream is to have freedom to live and travel, while working remotely – to live in British Columbia and Hawaii (dual residency) and to develop one or two group coaching programs that could be offered from anywhere in the world that I am living or travelling.
Ok universe, it’s out there!
Freedom and dual residencies! You’re a girl after my own heart. :) From your mouth to the Universe’s ears…and so it shall be. XO
This SO made me smile after our chat and all… I am getting closer and I am scared – terrified in fact as Ive suddenly realised that I need to make a massive change – excited – it feels freeing, passionate and like a breath of fresh air and then on the other hand – scary to be letting go of home!
Ive come to relise Ive created Safe and comfortable – not secure, trusting, curious and loving which is how I feel when Im travelling .
Think its time to hold my breath and jump again! jo xx
