Awesome Things Thursday: Crystals
Ok. So I’ve always been one of those people that was all like “yeah I’m a life coach, but it’s not like I carry around crystals or anything.” I’ve always associated things like this with super woo woo, I-should-be-wearing-a-long-flowy-skirt-and-talking-about-your-aura stuff, which, in general, I don’t really resonate with. But what I DO resonate with is being conscious about the things I bring into my life.
So the other day I was walking downtown in my little Montana town and stumbled upon a shop I’d never been to, although I’d passed by it a million times. For some reason, that day, I felt the need to go in. I didn’t even know what kind of shop it was, but once I got in there, I seriously felt like I had space traveled myself back to Berkeley. This shop was filled with crystals and candles and sage and and prayer beads and those bowl things that they use at yoga class to make sound and relax you. My friend and I were at the table looking at stones when a woman comes out of nowhere and says “oh yes, those are great for warding off bad energy. You just put them right by your front door.”
I was shocked.
Here I am in the middle of Montana, being told about the energy clearing benefits of selenite. Never once in California have I been in a shop quite like this (although I know they exist everywhere). Something about the randomness of the store in this town, and how I happened to go inside that day, made me more motivated than ever before to check it all out, and to be honest, I had been thinking about crystals lately anyway as I’m trying to Feng Shui my new place (woo alert…high). So I bought three different kinds, all for different reasons. They’re beautiful, they spoke to me, and so I’m including them in my “Awesome Things” list. I’ve had them about four days and I’m already starting to notice some changes. Is it because of the crystals? Who knows and who cares. Either way, cool things are happening.
1) Citrine Druzy
Citrine Druzy symbolizes wealth; it not only helps us to manifest wealth, it enables us to hang on to it. Feng Shui says to place it in the far right corner from your door.
2) Natural Amethyst
Natural Amethyst is extremely beneficial to the mind calming or stimulating as appropriate. Mentally, it helps you feel less scattered and more focused. It enhances the assimilation of new ideas and connects cause with effort.
3) Rose Quartz
Rose Quartz is the stone of universal love. It restores trust and harmony in relationships and encourages unconditional love. It encourages self-forgiveness and acceptance. Opens the heart at all levels to promote love, self-love, friendship, and feelings of peace.
If you want to check out the store where I got these, click here.
Lady, you are talking my language now! Your crystals are beautiful, and I love that you chose ones that you resonated with. (Me? I pretty much always have a crystal tucked in my bra!)
HAHHAHAH tucked in your bra?!?!?! That is awesome. And hilarious. I would love to know which crystal is the best bra one. Do tell!!!
you friggin’ hippie.
just kidding. i love you.
Look who’s talking!!! Miss “I just lived out of my van for a year!” :)
Hehehe… love you Sally, girl. Crystals are a beautiful thing. You don’t find crystals, crystals find you :)
Girl…that is SO true!!!!!! I love you.
Sally, this is so funny. I literally did the same thing a week ago! I was walking in our new hood and saw some sage for sale through the door of this little store (woo woo alert, I wanted to sage our new space to get rid of the past tenants bad juju :). When I went inside I realized it was one of “those” stores, and thought I would just get in, get my sage, and get out, but then I was totally sucked in to looking at all the beautiful crystals. I was really drawn to this one little bowl of crystals, and when I picked one up I was like, “I am totally going to spend $8 on this rock”. When I read the little blurb it said it was for confidence, creativity, and developing the business skills needed to make a living from one’s passions. I was kind of shocked as this was exactly what I needed at the time. The next day was my first of seeing patients on my own, and I was pretty scared. Not sure if this little crystal did anything for me or not, but when I was getting nervous, I would touch it through my pocket and I felt better. I guess deep down we are both just hippy dippy crystal sisters :) xo
HAHAHHA that is hilarious!!! ANd it’s so funny because BOTH of us are totally in this woo woo world, yet, still slightly resistant to the cliches about it. I’m fully embracing my crystal loving self these days though. Let me know how the crystal juju is working for you and send me an email on your exciting new life!!!!
LOVE this girl. Bring on the hippie woo-woo. I love crystals and used to oooh and ahhh at them when I was a kid (and I still kinda do).
That citrine druzy is crazy awesome!
xo
Thanks lady! I feel the same way. And yeah…the citrine is RIDIC! Bring on the dollas!! Hahhaha. Love you
There was a place like that where I used to live in the city. It was a little more New Age-Wicca kinda thing, but still kinda cool, since I know a lot of Wiccans.
It’s the end of the world as we know it… :)
…and we all feel fine…and woo-woo…
I’m getting into crystals too, and essential oils (OMG, they are AMAZING – I’m putting on a workshop in March with them, I used to think they were just bs that smelled nice) and I even have a teacher now who channels an extraterrestrial. (i think that just put me over the top for the woowoo win, lol).
I feel as long as it’s coming from your own experience – go for it. Hey, whatever works. On a deeper level, I am seeing that the whole universe reall is vibrational, which makes all of this make sense. (or is that one of those things i say?) anyway.. what I love about you is your openness to whatever life brings you in the moment. That’s the key.
Lotsa love to you girl (and moolah),
Z
Lady…omg I love this comment. I giggled my way through the entire thing. And I love what you said about being open. I think it’s so much fun to approach life that way. I mean, why not? Why not see if a rock does what it says it’s gonna do? Why not believe in essential oils? Why not at least be open to the possibility that there are forces beyond our understanding that are here to help us. Chicken or the egg? Believe before result? I don’t know but I find it fun and silly. And I KNOW we’re kindred spirits in this way. How about next time I see you I’ll bring my crystals and you bring your essential oils and skirts and we’ll party with the ET?
I love you lady.
